Rock climbing at Peterskill Tue June 09 2026

Today, I went out to Peterskill with Tim, Kate, and William. We started at Bunkbed Wall. Tim led "Slumber Party" (5.4). Or maybe it was "Sleepwalking" (5.3). I can't tell the difference.

This allowed us to top-rope "PJ Party" (5.7 R) without taking undue risks. Here's Tim at the start of that route.

And here's Kate on the same route.

I borrowed Tim's rack to lead "Gimme Three Steps", a fun 5.3! Here's William starting out on the TR.

William told us about the Clamshell Wall at the Dickie-Barre area. It's only 10-20 minutes away from the parking lot... It sounded enticing, and we decided to head on over there to check it out.

On the trail over, you pass some old artifacts, relics of a past time when the area hosted a ski lift. The structure below appears to be the site of the old bullwheel that was used to tow a chairlift for skiing (there is no skiing here anymore).

Sadly, I had stubbed my toe while walking around barefoot at the Bunkbed Wall (I know, I know). The injury bothered me as I hiked over to the Clamshell, and I decided that I shouldn't climb further that day. The wall looks pretty sweet, and I plan to go back when I get a chance.

Here's Tim starting on something at Clamshell, maybe "Bolt Line" (5.8).
